    Aquarium Top Frame Replacement

Anyone have any experience replacing the frame of an aquarium? The top brace is broken and I would like to replace it. I bought the tank used so I don't know the manufacturer. It's 220 gallons 72x24x29.

    Thanks,
    John

Hey John good to see you back on the forums.... I have no experience in this area, but i would think you can find a way to adapt it maybe with aluminum or something mean while work in a fish jump guard maybe. i have seen folks over lay a piece of acrylic or glass and glue it in sort of like a euro brace. I still have frags of all your corals as well when your ready.
    Four individual systems Right now.
30gal red sea 130d lps/softies/anemone tank, kalk ato, reef bright led strip.
    40 softies set up.
550 total gallon marineland 300 DD main system 18 months old now and stabilized. T5 VHO lights/ BLUE led strip, Fully custom built LIFE REEF sump and FUGE, AWESOME 60" tall skimmer, and 1000+ gallon rated custom Ca reactor, 3 50 gallon attached SPS frag systems lite with a combination of HM and LED and T5 fixtures.
A 200 gallon MARS quarintine with UV system/ medication for new arrivals.

Still lots to learn about the hobby but I have amassed a great collection of real beauties. I have broken past the stage of keeping things alive and now there actually growing out. Which is a big hurdle for many beginners I must admit. Good information and advise is hard to get sometimes and the club has done wonders with respect to quality advise and help in the hobby.

Hey Buddy! Thanks for the advice. I just bought a 220g aquarium on craigslist and totally got taking advantage of. The stand was crap the dude had glued the top braces in place so I couldn't tell until I got home. Complete dirt bag in my opinion. I found a place https://www.aquariumframeswholesale.com/ that will send me a new top frame but I need to remove the old one. I also would like to reseale it since I have it empty and don't trust anything that guy told me about the integrity of the silicone. The glass looks awesome and the overall tank looks like it wasn't abused, but who knows. I'm pretty upset about it.

My goal is to get a steel stand for it because I want it to be about 32 inches tall and a steel stand will give me the maximum space under the tank. I probably won't get to the stand until after Christmas though. I forgot how expensive everything in this hobby was.

I just got out of the hospital a few months ago and this is a gift to myself. I miss the hobby so much. Keep me a few frags just a little longer

    Jim,

I’m not sure if you were serious about having frags of all the corals you got from me, but I’m really interested in getting some frags of whatever you left. Obviously I willing to pay some rent for you keeping them all this time. Oh, you can keep the kenya tree and GSP.
