Last year in May, while taking the seniors to New York City, we had the opportunity to visit the Long Island Aquarium. I was looking forward to it, but was unsure about the high school seniors. As it turned out, at least 2 of them said it was the highlight of the trip for them, which caught me totally off-guard. I am glad they were able to enjoy it also. Joe Yaiullo gave us a behind the scenes tour and a penguin encounter. The seniors were able to feed the fish in the large reef aquarium and pet a penguin.

If you ever get the opportunity to see this aquarium, take advantage of it. It is well worth it. Joe and his staff are doing a great job up there!

Joe Yauillo is a co-founder and the curator for the aquarium. The aquarium opened it's doors on June 15, 2000. They have one of the Western hemisphere’s largest all-living Coral Reef displays. It is phenomenal! If you ever get the opportunity to talk with Joe Y, take it.

Pictures coming.
