This weekend I did a water change and was up cleaning the salt spray from top canopy and I happened to look down into the tank I a noticed that the view was starting to look really nice and the corals were looking good.
Here a few shots I took. Some I could not get to because the lights just blocked me and since I am using an iPhone 6+ rigged with an old polarized lenses from a pair of sunglasses it lol was a big hassle so could not get as many as I would have liked to.

Looking really good.. what sort of live stock is in there right now? what are you up to daily in the big three. i have reduced mine further i finally crept over 13.5 dkh 450 ca and i don't like the results.. I'm letting it fall back of now till i like the colors better. i also keep messing with my photo period. have lost a few across i think because the high all but the rest of the critters looked good. one of the birds nest started doing weird things and loosing color not sure why yet. I think it got blown out. but i need the flow for the other corals.
    Four individual systems Right now.
30gal red sea 130d lps/softies/anemone tank, kalk ato, reef bright led strip.
    40 softies set up.
550 total gallon marineland 300 DD main system 18 months old now and stabilized. T5 VHO lights/ BLUE led strip, Fully custom built LIFE REEF sump and FUGE, AWESOME 60" tall skimmer, and 1000+ gallon rated custom Ca reactor, 3 50 gallon attached SPS frag systems lite with a combination of HM and LED and T5 fixtures.
A 200 gallon MARS quarintine with UV system/ medication for new arrivals.

Still lots to learn about the hobby but I have amassed a great collection of real beauties. I have broken past the stage of keeping things alive and now there actually growing out. Which is a big hurdle for many beginners I must admit. Good information and advise is hard to get sometimes and the club has done wonders with respect to quality advise and help in the hobby.

Jim when I reach CA at 420 and Alk at 11 i knew it was time to fail it back with at least ALK. Right now I am dosing ALK at 10ml per day and CA at 45ml per day. Alk has been stable now at 8.4 for over two week period. Mag has stayed at about 1300-1320, still dosing the same every other day. For me some of the corals tips whited out with the higher ALK. So made the adjustment. I will test tomorrow and make any other adjustments. I however did do the water change with IO and the ALK is typically around 8-9 dkh.
Jim lets hope you can stabilize so that your acro's come back.

    Chip thanks so much!!

Im definitely finding if i using a company's standard two part packaged ready to go product, they should be nearly equal amounts. or something is reacting with something else.

and it also could be that over dosing usually leads to a slow increase not really a fast one. i still keep falling back on my amounts.. typically a few ml's from each other and am able to hold my numbers but it took much more to get them to raise.. i think it really self cancels with it self a lot when your trying to raise lvls. I'm trying to find a happy place with dosing. I'm tempted to go to a Ca reactor. The long term stability is more important than the level is really proving true. i have seen minimal quality of growth increase as i have toyed with the levels.. I'm still trying to just find a place it really wants to settle at and at the same time get my color i want. i do believe my nutrient level is very low still which also can be a complication.. a little dirty is ok. even for ACROS. If you have softies growing then your plenty dirty.. all of my tanks resister really low on nutrients. so I'm really starting to go by look more than test results as well it just took me as the hobbyist, a period to time to see what things were supposed to look like and then apply that to what results i am having.. i have even taken to putting the same coral in different tanks to see the difference. my LPS loose color but gain major inflation I'm my clown fish anemone tank. which i would say is the dirtiest. over all growth better coloration worse. so frustrating.... apposed to the main sps tank set up. I'm curious if i should let it get dirty like my clown tank is and see how the sps does. it has the flow but i think lacks the stability and nutrients the simple clown tank with only KALKWASSER ATO has. that and the flow is slightly less over all in the clown tank.

Small things really seem to matter. very frustrating.
