Saturday May 24th First ORCA Dive Trip

I am planning a diving trip on Saturday May 24th to Alexander Springs. We will meet at Alexander springs for 11am, Grill some burgers and dogs, and then go for a swim.

The dive is a shallow Dive, less than 30 feet deep. Lots of fish, sometimes some small gators to check out. Very clear water, sandy bottom and lots of fresh water plants to house young fish.

The spring is also a wonderful snorkeling experience since the shallow water is so clear. So I highly reccomend bringing your family to come for a nice swim. And Natalies favorite part is that there are warm showers for when you are done.

Cost to enter the park as a diver if i'm not mistaken $6 (you need to bring your c-card with you) and it is far less as a non diver.

I am planning on grilling some hamburgers and hot dogs, so I would appreciate it if everyone who is coming could RSVP to Josh(pedanpedan@gmail.com) and bring $3 for food if you would like to be apart of the grilling.

Let me know when you are coming, and how many family and friends you are going to bringing so I can go grocery shopping the night before. I will compile a list of people attending here.

More general park info can be found here http://www.tfn.net/Springs/Alexander.htm

There is also fishing and canoing... I can't find an address on it but

    Located in Ocala National Forrest.

From the town of Eustis take Hwy 19 north for about 11 miles. Then take S-445 N.E.for about 5 miles and look for the sign entrance on the left.

    Hey JoAnne,

I don't think the springs rents gear, but there is a store on the way there that does: C&N Divers. They are located right on 441. You can check rental prices online - www.cndivers.com. I am planning on renting gear there beforehand, too.

    See you there!

Josh: Is it possible to get my son certified prior to the 24th? (he's 10) Where would you recommend? He's dove in the islands a few times, but never got his certification. (is "dove" a word ? LOL)

    Thanks,
    JoAnne

Um it is, 10 is the cut off. I would recommend, scubaworld on route 50, or The Dive Station on Edgewater drive.

Keith at The Dive Station is an excellent instructor but I think he shy's away from teaching children that young in his opinion it is too young. But give both places a try, they both give great instruction.
