Hi I am looking to buy an apex controller. I am not new to the hobby but I am just getting to it again after a few years. If anyone knows someone who is willing to sell theirs, please let me know.

apex isn't what it used to be, I would go with another brand!!!!! there tech support is the worst I have ever experienced. It might have to do with it being a one man team!!!!
I have several. I'm not exactly confident in the "system". But i do find it nice to be able to automate n track things. They have some cool new items/add ons now as well. I think alot depends on how tech savy you are and if you like to tinker with programing.. if you don't like to figure out alot of if then stuff and the complications and consequences of changing things. then stick to wall timers maybe. I have never used the other controllers out there. On a medium or small tank you pretty much have to have something to help it when your not there. on a 200 plus system things seem more manageable day to day and don't require quite as fast a response time to save things. My 400 is not on a controller, but my 100 is. My 30 is not and suffers a bit compared to the controlled tank. I have average automation.. not too much, but i well beyond the factory settings.
Hope that helps.

Still lots to learn about the hobby but I have amassed a great collection of real beauties. I have broken past the stage of keeping things alive and now there actually growing out. Which is a big hurdle for many beginners I must admit. Good information and advise is hard to get sometimes and the club has done wonders with respect to quality advise and help in the hobby.
THANKS Orlando Reef Educators Organization!!!!
